Our Story

Ash & Olive is the realization of a shared dream that began for us on a stormy summer night in 2013. One of us was behind the bar at “Comfort,” a beloved Richmond restaurant, while the other sat
alone with a book and a taste for good food and wine. From that night, we built a life together filled with family, countless meals shared with friends, and a love for creating memorable moments around the table. Now, we’re excited to open our doors and share those passions with you. Located in the historic downtown of Ashland, Virginia, Ash & Olive is a place for families, friends, and new acquaintances to come together over exceptional food and drink. Our vision blends quality and warmth into a "fine casual" dining experience—high-quality dishes and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home.


At the heart of our kitchen, a gas-fired stone oven brings our artisanal pizzas, panuozzo sandwiches, and other fire-kissed dishes to life. Our curated wine menu and playful cocktails elevate the dining experience while keeping it relaxed and family-
friendly. For us, Ash & Olive is more than a restaurant; it’s a personal labor of love where we’re continuing our journey in a similar setting in which we first connected, and fostering connection with others through food and wine.
