Weekend Digest October 22, 2026

Rockfish. Eggplant Parmuozzo. Rocky Horror.

This Friday is the last Fourth Friday of the year in downtown Ashland, and Saturday night the Ashland Theatre screens The Rocky Horror Picture Show, so it's dinner first at Ash & Olive and drinks after at Cask & Stave. This weekend's specials include Seared Rockfish with roasted squash puree, an Eggplant Parmuozzo, and a flat iron with Italian salsa verde. The menu for The Festive Table on November 17 drops this weekend, and Issue No. 3 of How Taste Travels is live.

How Taste Travels

Our Story

Ash & Olive is the realization of a shared dream that began for us on a stormy summer night in 2013. One of us was behind the bar at “Comfort,” a beloved Richmond restaurant, while the other sat alone with a book and a taste for good food and wine. 


From that night, we built a life together filled with family, countless meals shared with friends, and a love for creating memorable moments around the table. Now, we’re excited to open our doors and share those passions with you. Located in the historic downtown of Ashland, Virginia, Ash & Olive is a place for families, friends, and new acquaintances to come together over exceptional food and drink. Our vision blends quality and warmth into a "fine casual" dining experience: high-quality dishes and a welcoming atmosphere that feels like home.


At the heart of our kitchen, a gas-fired stone oven brings our artisanal pizzas, panuozzo sandwiches, and other fire-kissed dishes to life. Our curated wine menu and playful cocktails elevate the dining experience while keeping it relaxed and family-friendly. 


For us, Ash & Olive is more than a restaurant; it’s a personal labor of love where we’re continuing our journey in a similar setting in which we first connected, and fostering connection with others through food and wine.
